Not far from our cottage (about 5 km) is a well-known tourist destination, the Slavic fortress Bojná - Valy. It was inhabited in the 8th - 9th centuries and fulfilled an important defensive, craft-commercial and missionary function. The most important finds include gilded plaques and a bell, which are evidence of the Christianization of our population even before the arrival of St. Cyril and Methodius.
Archaeological research is still ongoing on the hillfort, which brings new interesting findings and knowledge every year. The results of research and findings can be viewed by visitors in the Archaeological Museum of Great Moravia, which is located in the center of the village of Bojná and is open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Entrance to the castle is free, but the ban on entering the areas where research is currently underway must be respected. On the hillfort, visitors can see the remains of the defensive rampart, the reconstruction of the dwellings in which our ancestors lived, the reconstruction of the defensive rampart. Construction of the reconstruction of the entrance gate is also planned. The castle is in a quiet forest environment and provides visitors with rest, relaxation and the possibility of easy hiking.
